Treviso, a charming town in Veneto, is a hidden treasure rich in history, art and nature.
Known as the little Venice for its canals that run through the historic center, Treviso offers a quiet and refined atmosphere.
Its medieval walls bordered by the Sile river, elegant squares and Renaissance architecture are an invitation to discover its cultural and gastronomic tradition, famous in particular for red “radicchio”, the latter produced during the first winter colds.
Walking inside, you will notice the “Palazzo dei Trecento”, perfectly
inserted in “Piazza dei Signori”, located next to the “Loggia dei Cavalieri”,
an old meeting place for the noble class.
A few steps away the scene culminated in the cathedral of St. Peter the
Apostle also called Treviso Cathedral.
Built around the sixth century and then revived in its current layout
between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, it offers numerous works,
which lead the most curious tourist to a careful visit fervent of culture.
In the southwest there is the Church of San Nicolò, the largest monument
in Treviso, founded by the Dominican friars in 1221: it hosts numerous
frescoes, many of which were painted by an important author of the
time, Tommaso da Modena.
Among the streets of Treviso you can breathe centuries of history, but
also a vibrant modern dynamism, which makes it an ideal destination for
those looking for a corner of serenity and authenticity.
